Arsenal vs West Brom
Date: Sat, 25 Sep, 17 @8pm
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Arsenal will be looking to sustain their recent form against West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
That will be the case when the Gunners play host to the Baggies in London in a Premier League meeting.
The North Londoners have won three of their last four games across every competition to have a change in fortune.
Despite that, though, seven points from five outings has placed them in the bottom half of the Premier League standings.
Meanwhile, Arsenal played out a hugely impressive goalless draw with city rivals, Chelsea in the London derby last time out.
The Gunners avoided defeat against the Blues at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League for the first time since 2012.
Both sides had great and numerous goal-scoring chances to secure all three points but neither could find the breakthrough.
And with this unlikely draw which they secured against Chelsea, Arsenal go into Monday’s Premier League game high on confidence.
Although, Arsenal are currently occupying the twelfth position on the log, manager, Arsene Wenger has high hopes for the season.
That is because his charges meet West Brom, Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford in their next three league encounters.
This set of matches actually look very winnable for the Gunners at this stage, although, that is only on paper.
And there is still plenty of work to do for Arsenal to eventually have a truly successful 2017/18 season.
But a convincing triumph against West Brom on Monday would surely be another step in the right direction for them.
West Brom go into the clash ahead of their hosts on the Premier League table, the Baggies having eight points.
Arsenal will be without the services of forward, Danny Welbeck for the next three weeks due to a groin injury.
The Gunners also have the trio of Francis Coquelin (hamstring), Santi Cazorla (heel) and Calum Chambers (hip) on the sidelines.
Arsenal will assess the fitness of the duo of play-maker, Mezut Ozil and winger, Theo Walcott (both slight knee issues).
The North Londoners’ talisman, Alexis Sanchez could finally earn his first Premier League start of the 2017/18 campaign.
On the part of West Brom, midfielder, Jake Livermore is very much likely to make a return after his mini-break.
Striker, Salomon Rondon is pushing for a starting shirt for the visitors which could see centre-forward, Jay Rodriguez change position.
The Baggies’ trident of Chris Brunt (calf), Nacer Chadli and Oliver Burke (both thigh) will all face late fitness tests.
West Brom left full-back, Kieran Gibbs who left Arsenal during the summer transfer window could feature against his former side.
Arsenal have won their last six Premier League clashes with West Brom at the Emirates Stadium, conceding just a goal.
Should striker, Alexandre Lacazette net, he will become the first-ever Gunner to score in his first three home EPL outings.
Arsenal have not suffered defeat against the Baggies at home in the Premier League since falling 3-2 in September 2010.
Arsenal were the first visiting team to keep a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge in a competitive game since Antonio Conte took over as manager.
While West Brom have so far kept three Premier League clean sheets this season, Arsenal have two after five matches.
West Brom are hopeful of winning two EPL games in a row against Arsenal for the first time since 1977.
The Baggies midfielder, Gareth Barry will become the Premier League’s all-time leading appearance maker on 633 matches should he feature.
Meanwhile, both Barry and Ryan Giggs have played the most number of matches in the Premier League (currently 632).
West Brom have conceded and scored the same number of goals (four) in five games in this season’s Premier League.
What the managers say
Arsene Wenger: “They have a way to deal with everybody, a strong defensive basis, it is always difficult to play against them.”
Tony Pulis: “I’ve got something in mind that I want to use and I think it will suit the players we have.”
