Rodrigo Bentancur has reportedly arrived in Turin for his medical with Juventus ahead of his proposed €9.4m move from Boca Juniors in the summer.
As part of the deal that saw former Juventus striker Carlos Tevez leave the Juventus Stadium in the summer of 2015, Juventus had an option to sign the 19-year-old for a set fee of €9.4 million.
The deal, which was due to be activated and finalized before April 20, 2017, has commenced by Juventus and the 19-year-old is due to arrive for the Bianconeri’s pre-season tour.
Juventus Chief executive Giuseppe Marotta recently said the club planned to use their option to get the services of Bentancur and they are now ready to execute the deal before his expiry.
Bentancur came through the ranks of the Boca youth academy, making his first-team debut in April 2015, going on to establish himself as an important squad member of the team.
He played alongside Carlos Tevez before the 32-year-old moved to Chinese Super League outfirt Shanghai SIPG for a record fee reported to be in the region of 615 million euros.
Boca coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has said of Bentancur as “the Uruguayan Pogba” because of the similar characteristics Bentancur shred with the Manchester United midfield maestro.
Bentancur was part of Uruguay’s victorious South American Under-20 Championship side in February.
Bentancur had once expressed his desire to don Juve’s shirt ahead of his move to Turin.

Juventus are currently leading the pile and are mathematically champions-elect of the league.
They have also qualified for the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia as well as the last eight of the Champions League.
They will travel to souther Italy on Wednesday to lock horn with Napoli in the second leg of the Coppa italia havind secured a 3-1 win in the first leg.
On April 11, the Bianconeri will welcome Barcelona to the Juventus Stadium for the first leg of the last-eight tie of the Champions League, in what has been widely described as a repeat of 2015 final.
