Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can has come out to tip his team to embark on a very strong winning streak.
The German international has claimed that the Reds’ spanking of Maribor in the Champions League will inspire the Merseyside club.
And that it will also help the side to go on a patch of victories in their next coming games.
Liverpool went ahead to spell Maribor in full after the Reds handed out a 7-0 humiliation on their hosts.
And that was in an encounter in this season’s Champions League group phase between the two teams on Tuesday night.
Liverpool forward, Roberto Firmino who hit the net twice during the clash actually started the goal rush for his side.
Play-maker, Philippe Coutinho then got his name on the score-sheet when he added a quick-fire second goal for the Reds.
Afterwhich in-form winger, Mohamed Salah was also on target as he found the back of the net for Liverpool’s third.
It took little or no time at all for the Egyptian international to score a brace and his team’s fourth.
Firmino got Liverpool’s fifth goal while the duo of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexander Trent-Arnold completed the rout.
Now, they are sitting on top of their Champions League group with five points after three matches so far.
The 7-0 routing of Maribor is also the biggest away win ever by an Premier League team in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Merseysiders who had won only one of their last eight games were in imperious goal-scoring form against Maribor.
But after the win, Liverpool are brimming with confidence before this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Can: “We deserved to win”
“It was great,” Can disclosed to Liverpool’s official website.
“We did not concede a goal, that is important as well and then we scored goals and created good chances.
“I think we deserved victory, you have to score and that was the reason we didn’t win the last games.
“Today, we did it very well and I hope that was the game where it starts now again, the winning ways.
“It was a great performance and we have Sunday now against Tottenham.
“I believe that it is going to be a great game and hopefully, we will certainly play similar to today.” Can concluded.
