Reports emerging from Roma suggest the Giallorosi have agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery.
The Italian giants are in search of replacement for incumbent Luciano Spalletti whose contract expires in June and is yet to agree a new contract extension with the club.
According to the reports, Roma have finalized a 3-year deal for the Spaniard despite taking PSG to a disastrous Champions League outing this term.
The appointment would see the former Sevilla man reunite with incoming Roma sporting director Monchi, who is putting finishing touches to his summer arrival in the capital club.
The reports also indicate former Villareal Coach Marcelino as well as former France and PSG Coach Laurent Blanc are also in the frame to succeed Spalletti, with the Italian likely to depart at the end of the current campaign.
Marcelino in the race for Roma job
Meanwhile, 51-year-old Marcelino is currently a free agent after walking away from Villarreal in August 2016.
He was one of several tacticians invited for a formal interview by Inter patrons Suning Group for the San Siro bench earlier this season,.
However, the Nerazzurri opted for Stefano Pioli, replacing Dutch tactician Frank De Boer who led the club to a dismal start to the season.
Incoming Giallorossi director of sport Monchi was said to have suggested Marcelino as a good option to replace Luciano Spalletti next term.
Marcelino, who won the Segunda Division with Recreativo Huelva in 2005-06 season, has only ever worked in Spain with Sporting Gijon, , Racing, Real Zaragoza, Sevilla and Villarreal.
